When Samm isn’t playing, coming up with new product ideas, taking the role of Denver billiard instructor extraordinaire, or schlepping up to Boulder to visit her pals at PoolDawg, she tries out new products. Last month, she gave the Ultimate Pool Challenge a whirl (which she really liked by the way). This month, it’s the new Zone Pool game.
Samm looks at these products from a number of perspectives ranging from their basic purpose and ease of use to overall value. If you’re looking to buy one of these games, I highly recommend reading her review first.Google+
In an effort to bring more education and information to the PoolDawg website, we’ve added not one, but two new featured columnists – WPBA touring pro Liz Ford and pool player/instructor/writer/entrpenuer Samm Diep. Most of you already know Samm, since she’s become an honorary member of our staff, complete with her own South Park character and bio on the staff page. Plus, she’s in all those “what’s in the case” videos that are all over YouTube, knows just about everyone in the billiards industry and writes a fantastic instructional blog.
And then there’s Liz Ford. She finished last season ranked #27 (although based on the new WPBA ranking system, she’ll be ranked #23 to start the 2010 season). Liz has pool on her mind 24/7 (as you can see in the picture below) and we’re really excited to have her unique insights on our site.
In addition to writing for us and playing professionally on the WPBA tour, Liz was also featured on a very cool TV show called “Time Warp” on The Discovery Channel. I was able to find a clip of it on YouTube, so be sure to check it out.Google+
The holiday season is officially over, so we’re all slowly recovering from the onslaught of craziness that is the holiday season. I wanted to give a special thank you to our two holiday helpers who came in to help out with phones, orders, packing, box making and just about everything else you can think of.
First to help out was our longtime buddy, Samm Diep. For the second year in a row, Samm came in after Black Friday to pitch in wherever she was needed including making an obnoxiously large and unstable box structure in my office (we were sharing space). She stayed until December 16th, at which point we brought in the closer, Megan Ihle to wrap up the season.
Unfortunately, this is probably going to be the last year that Megan helps us out during the holidays. She’ll be shuffling back off to Wyoming next week to finish up her final year at law school, which means next season she’ll probably be a little too busy to lend a hand.
Thanks again to everyone (both our customers and our employees) for making this the best holiday season yet! See ya’ll in 2010!Google+
As you all know, when the holidays come, we force our buddy Samm Diep to come and help us out for a few weeks. Since we ran our new commercial a bunch of times yesterday during the Pacific Coast Classic, we decided to bring her in for a day to help us catch up on voicemail, emails and catalog requests. Unfortunately for her (and the rest of us), the heat was off all morning, so when we got into the office this morning, it was a balmy 56 degrees.
Fortunately for her, she came prepared complete with her cutoff gloves, snow hat and of course her PoolDawg Hoodie. She’s only here for a day, but she’ll be back in the office after Thanksgiving full time for a few weeks to make sure everyone gets their holiday orders in on time. For those of you that don’t know Samm, you can read all about her on her blog at http://www.pooltipjar.com/
If you requested a catalog yesterday, you should have it in your mailbox in a couple of weeks.Google+
When an old friend calls looking for a little help, we’re always happy to oblige. Samm Diep, writer/pool player/sometimes Frank handler/helper during the holidays/all around awesome person mentioned that she and Mike Fieldhammer are promoting a $5,000 added tournament in Minnesota dubbed the Shooting Star Classic and needed some giveaways, so we were happy to help:
