Kelly Fisher has got to be one of the hardest working women on the WPBA tour. Last year’s Player of the Year is not only pretty much always in the Top 5 and winning titles on ESPN, but she’s also the brains behind the new Kwikfire line of pool cues. Kelly partnered up with Carolina Custom Cues to create this new line and let me tell you, the cues are absolutely stunning.
If you’re a fan of designs that are both classic and elegant, you’ve got to check the Kwikfire cues out. They’re reasonably priced for custom cues (starting at $236 for the sneaky pete) and are made from the most beautiful cuts of wood.
Because these are new additions, we only have a limited number of these on hand. That being said, we did pick up 10 models in the line, so please check ‘em out and let us know what you think.
With less than two weeks before the WPBA Pacific Coast Classic Pick’em closes, picks are coming in hot and heavy. So far, the top choices are:
#1 Ga Young Kim
#2 Allison Fisher
#3 Kelly Fisher
#4 Karen Corr
#5 Xiaoting Pan
If you haven’t done so already, get registered for the game. Its free and the five best pickers win PoolDawg gift certificates, so what are you waiting for? Also, don’t forget that the WPBA will be streaming all the early matches live, for free so you can follow your favorite players all the way to the redraw.
Congratulations to Jasmin Ouschan on winning the 2008 Carolina Classic. After being sent to the one loss side early on in the tournament by Sarah Rousey, Ouschan battled her way back to the round of 16 redraw and then took command of the tournament. First she took down Kelly Fisher 9-4, then battled past Xiaoting Pan 9-7 to make her way to the semi-finals.
Once in the semis, she took down The Texas Tornado Vivian Villarreal 7-1 to reach the finals against The Black Widow herself, Jeanette Lee. Ouschan simply could do no wrong, finishing off Lee 7-1 to take the championship. Next up for the WPBA is the Pacific Coast Classic in Lincoln City, Oregon October 1-5.

For those who haven’t had a chance to get a sneak peek, you can head over to our friends at AZ Billiards who have a nice promo video (couldn’t get it imedded on our blog for some reason). The new set looks fantastic! This is also the perfect opportunity to see some of the future of the WPBA, with names like Iris Ranola, Kelly Fisher, Yu Ram Cha and Pam Cimarelli (formally Pam Treadway) all making to the TV round alongside veterans Karen Corr, Vivian Villarreal and Jeanette Lee.
Our girl Debbie Schjodt had a tough run at the US Open, but that didn’t stop her and Frank from having a good time and representing for PoolDawg! In addition to playing in the tournament, Debbie spent hours playing challenge matches and doing the meet and greet with fans which is why we so dig our Tequila Schjodt.
After the US Open, Frank, Debbie and the ladies of the WPBA decided to let loose at a local karaoke bar. If you check out Frank’s Myspace Page and go to his photo album, you’ll find tons of pictures of Frank hanging out with Sarah Rousey, Ga Young Kim, Xiao Ting Pan, Jasmin Ouschan, Monica Webb, US Open Champ Kelly Fisher and tons of other women from the tour.
Speaking of Frank’s MySpace page, Frank is really on the prowl for friends and he’s not above bribing people. Just for the MySpacers, we’re going to start doing a monthly giveaway. Every month, Frank will be choosing someone to get a $25 gift certificate. If you have a MySpace page and you want in on the action, just send a friend request.
Last thing, I wanted to thank everyone on the WPBA tour who took the time to take all those pictures with Frank. You gals are the best!!
