WPBA Carolina Classic Final Results

On September 14, 2008, in WPBA, by Michael Feiman

Congratulations to Jasmin Ouschan on winning the 2008 Carolina Classic.  After being sent to the one loss side early on in the tournament by Sarah Rousey, Ouschan battled her way back to the round of 16 redraw and then took command of the tournament.  First she took down Kelly Fisher 9-4, then battled past Xiaoting Pan 9-7 to make her way to the semi-finals.

Once in the semis, she took down The Texas Tornado Vivian Villarreal 7-1 to reach the finals against The Black Widow herself, Jeanette Lee.  Ouschan simply could do no wrong, finishing off Lee 7-1 to take the championship.  Next up for the WPBA is the Pacific Coast Classic in Lincoln City, Oregon October 1-5.

The first match will have Jasmin Ouschan up against The Texas Tornado Vivian Villarreal and the second match has future hall of famer Jeanette Lee matched up against Line Kjorsvik.  Jasmin is coming off an unreal showing in the World Straight Pool Championships.  Kjorsvik, who has been working her way back onto the WPBA tour by tearing off qualifier after qualifier is playing lights out pool.

The event is expected to air on ESPN in October.  Back later with the results and the new Carolina Classic champion.

Lots of matches have taken place already in Durham with more to come this afternoon and evening.  On the winners side, notable names moving on include Kelly Fisher, Allison Fisher, Ga Young Kim, Sarah Rousey, Jasmin Ouschan, Xiao Ting Pan, Anna Kostanian and Karen Corr.  PoolDawg’s own Debbie Schjodt struggled in her frist match, losing to 10 ball Junior Champ Liz Lovely but bounced back nicely, taking down Irene Henry 9-4.  Next up for Debbie is Kim White.  If she can make it past White, she’ll face the winner of the Jennifer Chen/Janet Atwell match this evening.
