Yay! Recognition!!

On August 2, 2011, in PoolDawg News and PR, by Michael Feiman

So it seems that I’m not the only one who thinks that PoolDawg is the bee’s knees.  The nice folks over at Billiards Digest bestowed upon us the title of “Best Online Retail Site” in their annual BD Web Awards!

Needless to say, when I saw this I was tickled all sorts of pink.  When one of the top industry magazines says you’re the best, it really does mean a lot.  We work extremely hard over here to create a shopping experience that is more than just a site that sells pool cues.  We do what we can to inject some personality into our site with our silly mascot, team bios and my own weekly attempts at humor via the slightly absurd and snarky promotional emails we send out to our customers and we’re always looking for new ways to improve the overall shopping experience.

In addition to thanking Billiards Digest, I also wanted to thank all of our customers.  It is the feedback we receive from you all that push us to continually improve our website experience, our branding efforts and our customer service.

Simply put, without our customers PoolDawg wouldn’t exist.  So from all of us here at The Dawg, thank you for your continued support, patronage and feedback.  Keep telling us what we’re doing right and what we’re doing wrong and we’ll do our best to live up to the title that’s been bestowed upon us!

Sarah Rousey – Superstar!

On January 7, 2010, in PoolDawg's Friends, by Michael Feiman

How proud are we of Sarah Rousey right about now?  It looks like Billiards Digest will be kicking off the new year in style, because our Keeper of the Dawg is on the cover of the January 2010 issue!

Sarah Rousey - Billiards Digest January 2010

Everyone here at PoolDawg just couldn’t be happier for Sarah.   She’s been such a wonderful representative and ambassador for our company.  Plus, how many people can you think of that would willingly run around with a ceramic dog tucked under her arm?

If you’re in town for one of the WPBA’s tour stops, be sure to stop by and root for Rousey!  First stop will be at the Viejas Casino in San Diego for the WPBA San Diego Classic.

Playing the Ghost

On October 17, 2008, in Billiards Training, by Michael Feiman

Ok, we get asked this question all the time.  ”What’s the best way for me to practice?”  If you ask almost any pro player, they’ll tell you that they use a technique called “playing the ghost” in order to practice.  So the next question that comes up is “What do you mean ‘playing the ghost’?”

Here are the basics to how it works.  You rack and break, then take ball in hand.  From there you need to run out.  Run out and you win.  Miss or scratch and the ghost wins.   We asked the guys over at Billiards Digest if they could send us an article that might provide a little more detail and they were happy to help out.  Check the link below to see the entire article about playing the ghost.
