For the first time in many, many years, PoolDawg will not have a booth at the annual BCA Pool League show in Las Vegas. The reason for our absence? Frank.

See, times are tough, so Frank wanted to audition to be the new Travelocity Roaming Gnome. Sort of a moonlighting gig. We didn’t have the heart to tell him that he wasn’t a garden gnome, so we let him take care of our travel arrangements this year. He talked with his gnome pals who wholeheartedly agreed that he should try out for the job (they are mischievous little guys).

We told him “BCA” and he seemed to know what we were talking about. We should’ve known better than to put Frank in charge of our travel because instead of booking us for BCAPL Nationals in Vegas, he booked us for these BCA Nationals. Really, it’s not his fault. He heard BCA and figured we were talking about the Bulldog Club of America.

So anyway, we’re not going to be in Vegas this week. Frank will no longer be allowed to make travel reservations for us and we will be at APA Team Nationals this August.

Good luck to all the players at BCAPL Nationals this year (the non-bulldog one) and we’ll try our hardest to make it out next year!

For the last five years, Alexis Brown has dazzled our customers with excellent customer service and her deep knowledge of the products that we sell. But, as they say, nothing lasts forever. Today marks the end of an era here at PoolDawg, as Alexis will be leaving us and moving on to bigger and better things.

For those of you who are used to having Alexis take care of all your pool and billiards needs, rest assured that Keven, Mariya and I will be here to make sure you get taken care of. In the coming weeks, we’ll be adding a new member to the team as well, so stay tuned on that front!

As for Alexis, even though she’s leaving us, she’ll always be a member of the PoolDawg family. All of us here at PoolDawg will miss Alexis, so please join us in wishing her the best of luck with her future plans.

Ever wonder what happens to our weekly emails after we send them out? Ever feel like you wish you could re-read some of the pitchy goodness but have since deleted our DawgMail from your inbox?

Well we’ve decided to start archiving our emails and making them accessible on our website. Since there are quite a few of these to go through and add, it’s going to take some time (as we need to reconstruct quite a few of them and put them into non-email format) but if you’d like to follow our progress or wax nostalgic on some of our attempts at humor and entertainment, feel free to visit The DawgMail Archives!

Ever wonder what it looks like when a pool cue tip gets changed? We decided to do a little before and after on a pool cue. The pictures here are from a new Meucci cue. As you can see, the original tip is a fairly standard, non-layered leather tip:

The customer decided that they’d like to have a Moori tip on their pool cue, so we took off the old tip and replaced it with a Moori. After installation and clean up, here’s what the final result looks like:

Not too shabby if you ask me. We can do tip changes on pretty much every cue we carry. If you want a new tip, but don’t see the tip you want listed as a tip change option, just give us a call. If it’s in stock, chances are we can put it on a pool cue for you!

Is it even right to call these things cell phones anymore? I’m old and not “with it” so I don’t know if the kids today are calling it a cell phone, a mobile phone or a smart phone, but I still call them cell phones.

To the point though, here at PoolDawg, leaving your phone unattended is never a good idea. Last week Keven got himself a sporty new Samsung Galaxy. Not only did this upgrade him to the nicest phone in the office, but it simultaneously downgraded me to having the crappiest phone in the office (I went with the free phone that came with my plan).

There was quite a bit of crowing going on, so when Keven left his phone unattended, Alexis and Mariya decided to test some of the phone’s functions, specifically the camera function.

I’m guessing this was a response to Keven swiping Alexis’ phone and leaving this as her background image:

Fortunately, my phone is too old and crappy to get any retaliation for putting this on her phone:

Even Frank decided to get in on the fun, although his picture was extremely inappropriate:

Which then resulted in him being put in the Cone of Shame:

Yes, we do like to keep it light here at PoolDawg’s Worldwide Headquarters. Really though, would you expect anything else from a company that runs around taking pictures with a ceramic bulldog?
